No character building just down the street yesterday, unless you ventured off the groomers or heavily skied non-groomers. But plenty of  ego snow!

It was almost embarrassing, to be
the only one in P4 and on C1 at 9  ::)
Country club day on the groomers
Didn't even think about C2
Left when it got crowded at 1030
Like 12 people
Plus the poor dad with his little kids
I saw them get to the top on my 3rd lap
They were halfway down as I finished
my last lap 8, 60 minutes later  :-[

Did the groomers there soften up nicely, as they did at Central?

^^^^^ I left just as they were. Car read 36 and telemetry confirms. But the firm groomers were actually decent all the way down to the top of C3 and then I found one good groomer track down Sessel that I kept hitting. LOL. Seriously, one. I don't mind skiing firm groomers, I pretend that I am at Aspen in the World Cup. Damn that's ice.

In New England, "ice" is either  blue (really blue, and not grainy), or clear or black. Not white. That's called "frozen granular" in their snow reports. I used to keep my edges well tuned back when I lived there. It was  easy to tell the difference underfoot. Paid good money many times to ski frozen granular, often in near 0F and windy conditions. Our "conditions check" was to open the car door in the ski area parking lot and listen for the sound of the turns being made.

Just peeked at the  Summit webcams - looks like the  gas firepit by the Silver Fir lodge is by far the most popular terrain  feature at the  moment.

The bc skied really nice today. Once the sun hit other areas everything solidified fast. Shot 4 was not as pleasant as it could have been. But I knew better than to head over there.

Why? Not enough bodies (hey management)
Sure sign it's the beginning of the end
Yet a more obvious one was

What was good this morning was less good this afternoon,
Glue on schmoo, esp. down low out Elevator gate
Tomorrow's refrozen chunder and loose wet debris
will likely send me a tad further East ;)

Ride on, ride off c2 all afternoon
Snow began falling in earnest after 2, telemetry showing 6" new
Everything open, snowing hard at the end of the day
Hard to be upset, even when the chairs will sit dormant until Thurs.

8" new up top on a rain crust rode exactly like you'd expect it to
bigger surprise was how fun the knee-deep slurpee was off 1
although the bigliest surprise of the day was the sheer amount of debris on the Nash side
Thankfully Snake Dance opened in the afternoon before things got too ugly

Surfed Silver this morning through the sun breaks and snow showers until the chair went tits up at 2, then scuttled over to Alpental for the remainder of the afternoon. Lower mtn had softened playfully without much stickyness but everything above the Fan was still locked-up tight. One white knuckledragging lap down l'Internationale was enough for me, although I did find the turns in Snake Dance to be of acceptable quality. Tomorrow's shaping up to be a great training day, see you on the slopes!

2 loaded right away, Nash Gate swung open around 9:30
With no reason to stay inside the ropes, we found ourselves repeatedly on the outside of them
Enjoying the outdoors in Washington on a gorgeous spring day with a sufficient amount of new in which to play
Bell to bell was the call, with a last run all the way from the top of 5456 for some 261 proper fun
Thanks to everyone who came out to have fun in the sun!

What a bonus day, with sun/snow/Nash gate
Wish I had my GoPro on, but didn't think it would be THAT good
So just one shot, of my first 2 laps in the bowl
Before I was 3rd down DD, and 1st down GS > Big Trees

Good weekend of powder to slush with a little bit of everything between and a nice mix of clouds, flurries and full-on sun!
Excellent company, solid attendance and hopefully enough excitement and fun to make it through another operations-less workweek.
