Wasn't as busy as I feared! LoT4 was fucked with tourons early.
Well, TAY is a touron site by default so don't complain, except those folk are meant to park 1/2 a mile away as it anyone would.

Well now that they can't tour Southback I guess they have to ruin some other Boyne resort's slackcountry
I didn't have issues w/ the touring crowd today, but the snowshoers who postholed up the boblsed track out of the Roxoff/Gunbarrel meadow, WTF were they thinking ???

Got 2nd chair on Armstrong and occupied the 3rd padded seat (wax works wonders).
Sun came out early, stayed out almost all day.
High T cracked just a hair after 2, I bagged three laps back there, how about you?

and despite a post-8am arrival, I snagged the fifth padded seat!
The powder techs did arrive in time to stand around until Armstrong loaded @ quarter past nine
but many took a lower lap before heading for two - which loaded at 10 with a bigly line, ew!
The 17" of new at 5420' was cold, light and fluffy - it was the kind of snow that makes your lungs feel funny.
The safety coordinators kept everything skier's left of lower I shuttered until quarter til 1
then they swung it all open and let us have fun!
I only managed one lap through the newly-opened zone, before I had to dash like a madman to make a meeting that I couldn't attend by phone.
On the drive down the pass I witnessed quite the crash, a passenger vehicle crushed in a losing battle of mass,
it rear-ended a shipping container-hauling semi just east of the exit for Hwy 18, heading west.
The ambulance raced past me as I exited in Issaquah, I hope the driver's alright, as for today in two words:
"Uff da"

Did one more lap too, clean line down GB Trees

What a difference a day makes
And 8 degrees, yesterday 24 at bottom
today 32, and it was painfully different
More avy debris, upside down surface
But hey, never a line on C2

I couldn't figure out how the hoard heard the call indicating a gate drop was imminent while waiting for Snake Dance to open and then just went full steam ahead past it like a pack of wild dogs.
who you callin a wild dog??

But that was the only reason to be
After a quick breakfast at the car
I return and ask the patroller
He says at least another hour, I commiserate
Which paid off cause 30 seconds later
Literally they lode (sic) C2 (nice hour dude, patience is a virtue)
Smiles on the faces of many, skiing nice
Rode the lift with my ol' HWS Crew
Left at 12:30 to be with my critters, did Nash gate open?

Bluebird and powder, and an 8:45 AM start (Day 1)
Cold snow on top of yesterday's soft surface
The Ice Age is a distant memory
Parking lots filled, I haven't been in any Lodge all year (other than Jackson)
Lines good until 10, then bigger but not bad
E gate/Heavenly Trees to end the day
Here is the less wordy report:

Shot 6 shuttered at 2, padded seats closed one ride early
Beat the pass closure out by less than a minute thirty

Today was it, with the bonus of smaller crowds and earlier E gate drop
Would not have survived those two E gate laps
If not for the generosity of bobby
Thanks for the Capri Sun (Wild Cherry!)
Again, here is the less wordy report (apologies in advance for all the wohoos, hollers and OMGs):

For those of you playing along at home, 2 & Armstrong shut down @ noon, Sessel's spinning but nobody's riding it and night ops have officially been canned for this evening. Still, all the hassle and waiting was worth it for first chair this morning.

I guess that's a nice way to explain the delay which is today:-(
What delay?
Bottom rode great.
Second shift up two got gates right away.
Win!

fast, fun raincorn at the bottom,
no crust to be found between.
I've ridden far worse this season and it takes more than a light drizzle to get me down.
Esp. when chair 2 is ride-on, ride-off all day.
