Sunday Ski Report

Debbie's skied ok if you avoided the ice. Problem was vis and the mist that needed to be cleared from you goggles multiple times on the run. Sessel as always was very nice. When vis was good so were the high speed turns.

Edelweiss was reasonably good. The bowl itself was had ice in places but it was easy to find the soft to turn on. Airplane was good and the lower part was groomed for the first time this season. My old back appreciated that.

Nash was a surprise smooth to the turn with little ice. The entrance was very good compared to much of last year. Lower I was mush just past the mid point but was skiable. Found the trees on the far south side of I and th untracked was fun. Rubble is still an issue if you get in it.

No lines.

Overall a 5.5 out of 10

Afternoon at Alpental today yielded boot top fresh, minimal crusty spots, mostly softpack on piste. Nice to say goodbye to the icy conditions, hopefully for a long while now.

Snowed 1"+ per hour all morning. Patrol opened the padded seats at 10! Thanks. Untracked lines all AM with slightly tough vis for old people. 16-20" fluffy fun. Mmm. Flow and pipe where were you guys?

I suppose I should comment as a hat trick of pass closures kept the Pugetopoloids at bay
Armstrong loaded at 9:45 followed by 2 w/o delay
Snowed hard all day and the wind howled away, but unlike other resorts in our region we had access to top-to-bottom terrain
Shot 6 was shuttered shortly after noon with l'Internationale following aoon after. A pair of power outages brought the padded seats to an early conclusion and the high avy danger combined with limited staff for the night shift meant the area closed at 4 for the day

Was that before or after the donut(s) & coffee?

You were missed yesterday, but how I missed Silas is beyond me ??? Maybe because his Tercel was buried in all that snow by the time the storm relented enough to afford a modicum of visibility

Don't worry, we still made it. Just required patience. I wasn't there til almost noon and still found myself breaking trail for some of the skier's right lines on Edelweiss Bowl.

the area filled up fast today with no parking management coordinator
the grooming, well there was an attempt but less than mediocre
clear skies overnight allowed the ruts and debris to solidly form firm
good times down Edelweiss required everyone to ski&board together

Over at Central we heard tales of people who arrived at around noon driving around for an hour to find parking. But the skiing itself was mostly pretty fun spring like conditions. Some ice between moguls on 360 and parachute. Crossover to and from east isn't open yet.

This has been the saving grace of East so far this mediocre season. Shuttle on over sometime, our slopes are riding fine!

Nice grooming off chair 1 for an hour, then great flowing backcountry laps in soft 10-15" untracked fresh snow high, and boot top heavy fresh below 3600'. Thanks to patrol for setting a perfect high traverse to piss pass, and to Bobby for guide service.

karma will hurt the jerk.
Otherwise it was a mediocre day, considering 18"new
and a great wedding.

I took a day of leave from my Easterly duties to grace the padded seats
The lines for 1 & 2 were great reminders of why I only come over midweek
The snow out the gate made up for the line standing
A baker's half dozen of laps later and my whole body was beat
The road was "too icy" so we had to "suffer" in lot 4 until 430 when sanding was complete

All lots were full, the soup was pea (oh wait that was the visibility) and the day was overall mediocre in quality. But I did get to share a padded seat w/ FreeBird, which was neat

A foot has fallen at pass level since this morning.
Elevator opened at 11:15, the powder techs stayed in the city.
Tomorrow might be good, tomorrow might suck
You'll only find out by going ;)
