First day skiing at Alpental for this 2017/2018 season and it did not disappoint. Now, if only they would add padded seats on that quad. I feel like I'm being pitched forward while riding that chair and have this unusual anxiety that I will somehow slip off the chair and do an involuntary send. lmao

word!
you were following Mofro on the vid lap
nice seeing you yesterday DM even if you didn't see me:-)

such a great day far betterer than mediocre!!!

fantastic groomers today the kinda sunny day when you just want to do laps with a 5 year old all over lower mountain. race courses set up on both perimeters so we had to be Gala creative in order to get back to LoT4 from lower Snake Dance. she had fun.

I think that's the first time I've ever seen someone keep up w/ Mofro. Bummed I missed ya, Donnelly, but I do see my car at the end of your clip in lot4.

coulda used a few more people or skis of much fat.

Firmer & more limited today,
But most of the hill was put into play in the afternoon.
Adrenaline rode great again after closing bell, but Lower I is still a mess of debris.
Rode some classic lines and scared myself a few times beneath 2 after 2...
5/7, all things considered

We were not early birds, being unconvinced it would have softened for much of the morning. Fun fast corn this afternoon wherever it had either been groomed or skied at least a moderate amount. Peeked over at upper I but saw skiers sending rolling chunklets down the hill so we stuck to slopes where we were sending loose granular snow pouring down the hill. We both really enjoyed the afternoon there today. A- ;-)

Hill was fools only as most of the mtn remained shuttered today "due to conditions"
The volleys sure seemed to enjoy Rollen at day's end >:(
But a few of us found good turns in unusual places on our way down to lot4
Looking forward to my newfound employment @ K2 tomorrow ;)

after a week at Bachelor it was nice to be back at a better than mediocre hill with enough pitch to make it interesting when the snow goes to ultra schmoo. final weekday of the season, which is bullshit, went well once the right side of Nash got skier groomed. This was only possible with the help of a great crew working on mountain to make skiing better.

Attrition was high after this morning's schmoo got chopped,
Upper mtn rode alright, even if it was a bowl side-only delight.
Precip intensified at half past noon, even those in rubber departed soon
Fingers crossed for a better tomorrow...

It was quite nice this afternoon on any line that was getting skier love (or that had been machine massaged). So nice of the rain (snow up top) to hold off until the last run (other than one round of mid-afternoon showers), and to not really get going in earnest until we were driving away.

Thanks to the early birds for grooming the steeps for us!

Too bad Shot 8 didn't decide to go until after they were done. Would've been real easy to zoom-in on that one

Good clean fun. Mostly fast corn - I only hit a few grabby spots in the late afternoon. Busy but not as bad as next weekend will surely be as Spyder-clad folks are funneled our way from the southern and northern resorts.

Oh right, the southern resort is closed, that's why i saw a few extra stickers from their hill. Oh well, could be worse, the sun would have brought 370% more fair weather skiers. The Padded Seats don't need that extra baggage and the Alpentalics don't need the sunshine to ski the Right Side of Nash. The Right Side of Nash was perfectly mediocre and the more it got ridden the better mediocre it got. Gate opened.

Rain corn is plenty fun and helps keep the crowd down. Lots of snow left despite an obvious drop in depth since last week.

The southern resort, although closed was extremely mediocre today. Skinned up to the summit house in drizzle, rain , snow and occasional sun beams. Skied down LS to FQ. Then I skinned up to Campbell Basin and rode Rolling Knolls to base in the rain. Skiing was on thick, sticky , rain soaked mush ... the type they call " character building". Uphill was glorious though. Glad Alpy is skiing well.

nice wordy report, Scotsman!! glad the touratalics are enjoying the open slopes and smooth grooming. must be nice to have all that elbow room. ENJOY!!!

Sunday at Alpental there was an appearance by Frank. A Recent southern resort transplant after 45 years skiing under the shadow of Denny Mountain. So this long time Alpental resident graced our lil hill and non existent groomed runs because the ski area he transplanted to is closed. Great to see Frank, sad that it was under these circumstances.
today was wet mushy and really mediocre, place is getting skied in.
