Paradise Area Wind Slab: December 7, 2013 was created by Trevor Kostanich
I triggered a small windslab today on a micro ridged feature west of Edith Creek at ~6400'.
HS-AS-R1-D1
Aspect: South
Angle: ~30 deg
Slab depth: varied from 0 cm on east side to 20 cm on west side
Slab width: broke in many chunks, widest chunk ~4 m
Here is a photo that shows the deepest part of the crown (looking west).

Main message here is our snowpack is far from our coastal norm with last storm event depositing low density snow followed by winds and cold temps. Variable conditions.

R1-D1 = size/force, respectively (small and negligible in destructive force)
HS- hard slab
AS- skiier triggered

Good to know. Thanks Trevor.
Looking at your picture, the slope angle looks much less than 30 degrees.
I'm guessing that the picture was taken obliquely, looking down the slope as well as across. The angle of the ski poles suggests that.
True?
