Alpental  November 29th 2017 update - but the skilled traveler will notice layering in the snowpack that might still indicate a bit of a cautious approach as we add some load over the next few days. Happy Holidays /G

Alpental  November 29th 2017 update - Pretty good snow cover above about 3800' and with a little more in the forecast we are beginning to consider our options. Rather than forbid skinning and climbing just yet the Patrol has agreed to still allow travel with a couple caveats. No avalanche work has been done so the area is still in natural state. The main runs have been pretty well cut up but the skilled traveler will notice layering in the snowpack that might still indicate a bit of a cautious approach as we add some load over the next few days. And there are lots of two-legged triggers, some of whom get out pretty early. Our staff is still working on lifts and lift stations so please keep clear of facilities and watch for snowcats to make their annual appearance. I will try to update as weather dictates  Happy Holidays /G
Thanks Gib!
