Introducing AvalancheNorthWest was created by AvyNW
An independent project has been in development by an avid skier, who has taken the liberty to collect all known avalanche incidents year to date in the NorthWest.

Visit avalanchenorthwest.crowdmap.com

AvalancheNorthWest (AVNW) is a platform dedicated to promoting avalanche awareness and increasing incident reporting in the Northwest. People can use the platform to report and view all avalanche incidents in the NorthWest.

We hope you find the site resourceful, providing a look at what is happening in our mountains over time and learning about other people's experiences.  The web platform:

- collects information from cell phones, news, and the web
- aggregates that information into a single platform
- creates a heatmap of recent activity
- provides an active timeline of activity
- improves the accessibility of incidents and incident reporting

Incidents can now be reported through the online form, by email or Twitter (SMS is in work).  The closer to real time the better.

It is a work in progress, and continues to be developed, but we hope you will drop by and provide feedback.

Please feel free to share this link, and our intent, with your friends and fellow outdoor enthusiasts.  If you have any questions, contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

I think what you are trying to do is noble, but there is already the www.avalanchenw.org friends website and notable incidents do appear on NWAC's website.

I would suggest that you/your friend contact NWAC by e-mail and see if this is where they would like to see the information gathered.
