Hyak Field Trip, January 8 was created by Zap
The Hyak/Summit East ski area is not opening on January 8.  But there will be a backcountry field trip of approximately 30 individuals in the area on Saturday.  So if you are planning to tour there on Saturday, please be aware that it will not be a "wilderness experience".   ;)

Thanks for the heads up. Sounds like some sort of classic club trip ;)

Sounds like a hudge tangled mess of gators, rope and REI key-chain thermometers?

Pre-breeding season migration of The Mountaineers?

Take pictures Matt. But be wery, wery quiet. You wouldn't want to start a stampede. ;)

Summit Nordic center at East/Hyak will be open with their junior program starting on Saturday. 100+ kids plus instructors and parents. It should be a fine mess.

The forest service has placed 'closed' signs at Hyak because they felt the area was not save to ski with work on the triple chair and people walking under/around it. I hear everyone just ignores the signs, so don't be shocked if you see these brown signs near the condos.
