(I only know about this because my firm designed the Barn Beach Reserve's new building. This is from their announcement)

"At 7PM Friday July 16 at the Barn Beach Reserve in Leavenworth
Enjoy a trip back through time at Barn Beach Reserve this Friday evening as we visit with A. H. "Hal" Sylvester, Supervisor of the Wenatchee National Forest from 1908 to 1931. Sylvester worked as a topographer for the US Geological Survey before being transferred to the fledgling US Forest Service. He mapped and named hundreds of lakes, peaks, ridges, and trails during his employment. Come and hear the stories behind the names.

"Denny McMillin, USFS retired, portrays Sylvester and relates fascinating stories about that time in local history, embellished with many wonderful old photos.

"This program is in partnership with Upper Valley Historical Society."
