The access road is 15 miles from the highway.  The road had a few potholes that had been fixed, and it was the first we have seen this year.  When you arrive at the ski area you see a  major construction project of buildings and storm water protection work.  All for $$$$$.  The covered access wagons/ shuttles pick you up and drop you off right next to your rig.  We picked up our free tickets using our Mountain Collective Passes.  The groomers were in great shape, and we followed the sun for the warm snow lines.  It has been 10 years since our previous trip here, and the major addition is the new Kachina Peak lift to 12,480 feet.  The lift was not operating  today because of the firm conditions; they need another snow storm.  My “old powder day” was about 25 years ago in April.  Seeing Kachina and the Highline Ridge brings back memories when I had a younger body and great knees for climbing.  It was quiet except on the loooong traverse back to the base.  All the black trails here deserted due to the unfriendly firm terrain.  They need a nice big snow storm to provide friendly lines again.
