Today was the second half of my twofer long drive to short hiking to snow. A much warmer day made for mushier snow but no less enthusiastic skiers.
I passed two red jacket patrollers on the way up and enjoyed chatting about teaching kids to ski. A few hundred feet higher a black jacket patroller informed me that skinning is not allowed in the ski area. She directed me to the Far East side of the Palmer snowfield and I continued up to 8500’ and traversed back to the social scene at the top of the lift.
Folks were there from all over the western US, including Tom Szwedko, who was starting his annual count of days skinned, having just completed 340 days yesterday for 2017-18. Today was his 468th consecutive month of TAY.

Good job not letting that black jacket enforcer become a barrier to progress!
