A beautiful day with good people; Damien, Khahn, Tobae, Tim, Adam, and myself found the FS road closed due to an unsafe bridge, but it was not that far to walk and the Whitehorse Glacier route is pretty direct anyway so a little extra mileage made no big dent in our moods. Chose the left side to pass through the cliff band. Plenty of avy debris below cliff band. Weired kind of avy debris above - styrofoam like balls ranging from tennis to bowling balls in size. Rather hard to make upward progress as the balls just rolled on top of each other. Little did we know that this was the easy part. As the avy debris subsided there was one crevasse we belayed across and we were welcomed to trailbreaking olympics. We all thought it was a good idea to leave the skins at the car - stupid mistake. Our progress upwards ground to a snails pace as were breaking trail in knee to hip deep snow. It was very hard work and a party of 4 snowshoers that had gone up the right side of the basin was making easy work of catching up to us. They blew by like we were standing still and we followed in their tracks thankful for making us work a little less hard. Thank you to EJohnson and Zoroastr + friends of CC.com. We all made it to the top, a long time after we started from the car, tired, but with a feeling of accomplishment in our teamwork, having swapped breaking trail. We all skied off the top and it was really good, hitting good snow most of the way down to about 3,000 or so where the slush started. Great day out with some nice people.
Thats hard core man! Well done on keeping going with all that knee deep trail breaking.
I got exhausted just thinking about it. :D

That's a lot of work. Way to get it! That postholing shot is awesome. Those are the kind of steps you put your head in when you're up to your waist in snow and bemoan to yourself, "What the hell am I doing?" Followed by, "Oh, man, it's just right there, maybe an hour." It never is :).
The top is a lot more filled in than when we were there. What a great year for snow!
