After hearing reports of upwards of 6 inches at Mission I decided to head up this morning before work and check it out. It was a gorgeous morning with cold temps and blue skies. The skinning was easy as there was 2-3 inches of fresh on a hard crust. There was a little more higher up. I made it to the top of chair three in a little under 1.5 hours. Abruptly the blue skies disappeared and it started to lightly snow. I decided that it was time to drop in. I had a great run down the runs of the ski area on 3-4 inches of pow covering hardpack. It was a quick ride and soon I was walking in to work.
Glad to hear you hit it when it was 'good'. I hike up last Friday (18th) in 30+ mph winds coming straight down the face. 1 hour 45 min. to the top on firm (see: icy) conditions. Pretty much survival skiing to get back to the base. Cats and snowmobiles had tore up the runs when it was soft and the re-freeze was brutal. Probably my worst day of the year but it sure beat working! ;D
