Austria car rental option!
« on: 04/04/08, 09:14 AM »

We have rented a Smart car at the Innsbruck railway station, only 18 euro per day (100 free km) and only allowed to drive in Austria or Sudtirol (formerly Austria for 500 years until 1918)   It has proven to be a great way to get to places busses do not go, which are few.   Plenty of options to ski within 50-100km of Innsbruck so the mileage limit is not a big problem.  Be careful with snowplows, they can scrape you off the road, or the snowmiller at Snoqualmie that chewed up a Toyota in February 2008.

Ah yes, the transit options over there are wonderful.

Are you ever coming home?

Does the Smartcar fit in the luggage rack of the train compartments?   Wink
