It was like Mr Peabody's wayback machine ;D on The Rocky and Bullwinkle show for the drive down to Rainier, the tunes were vintage 70's Steely Dan 8) which still sound good. Met fellow Tay'ers Marco, Rick and one other in the fast filling parking lot, slathered on sunscreen , loaded pack on back and headed out. Things looked bleak as the Muir snowfield showed continuous snow only from below Anvil rock and higher. We found snow at Pebble creek and our first substantial patch above that, Todd had a dinner date in town so this meager 500 foot of vertical would have to do for the day. The turns were acceptable but over too quickly, much too quickly ???, but whadda ya gonna do 'bout it, it's September! The beaten path back to Paradise was crowded with folks taking in this glorious day and the cars prowled at Paradise lookin' for a spot. Black Butte Porter was the adult beverage of choice for the drive back to Seattle, a pleasant hike with a few turns thrown in made for a good day. ;D
