Having not been to the other Crystal backcountry, I had no idea much how crossing just one ridge could change one's perspective. But just south and east of Crystal's South Back Country lies a prescription for a quick fix. Crystal teamed with activity on this perfect day, but just over the hill, we saw only five other souls all day.
ScottK, iluka and I hit the weather window perfectly on Saturday. Cold temperatures and lots of sunshine greeted us as we skinned up and out of Crystal. Several days of varying snowfall deposited from 8 to 12 inches of the lightest creamy-dreamy one could ask for. We toured up and over several ridges and logged just under five thousand feet of vertical. Snow conditions, scenery, and sun-meter ranged from excellent to most excellent!
Scott- another great day and thanks for the suggestion. Andy- great to meet you in person and look forward to more trips. And awesome leads by the way!
