Dave K. and I scurried up to the Pass to hunt for the snow I was sure would fall from the sky during the day. ~2-3" of new down low at 9:30 confirmed my suspicions. We moseyed as high as ~5k through what, in the end, amounted to 9-13" of moderately light new atop a soft, friendly crust. The ski, on NW/W facing aspects, was good. A second lap ended early at ~2-3 pm as the phase transition from good skiing to pinwheeling sluffs made itself known, urged on by warming temperatures and the beginnings of rain. Precipitation was coming down wet and hard as we dropped from the Pass. The sudden appearance of sunlight in Issaquah was startling.
While we were hiding from the effects of yesterday's sun, anything that was sunhit on our shady slopes had a lower quality, but still ok, bond between the new and the old.
