Everybody seemed to be on the other side of Nisqually, just three of us headed up to the big bowl east of Van Trump park.  New snow was balling up under the intense Sun on steep slopes, but the snow pack seemed consolidated and stable in general.  We stopped at a high point around 8200', then took a run down toward Wilson Glacier; a short, but nice steepish run on settled powder.  Back up to the top of the bowl at 8000'; it was already 4pm.  The snow seemed so good on our way up, it was now firming up requiring careful and forceful effort for a 4000' descent.
