KingWilliam and I scurried off to dawn patrol near the Pass this morning. Fair weather yielded nice views and pleasant conditions. Even made it to work (nearly) on time.
Snowwise, there's a sun crust most anywhere the sun goes and crusty snow below ~4k everywhere, trees included. Above ~4-4.5k, sheltered W/NW slopes held powder as deep as the knee, but mostly boot-ish atop a firm but edgeable base. We weren't totally sold on our chosen W/NW facing line's stability prior to three ski cuts followed by a quality faceplant - nothing moved. Open groves of trees had the best skiing. Breakable crust down lower added a little humility to the adventure.
Saw some recent-looking (1-3" of new on top at ~4k) avy debris on S facing slopes.
We, as always, are lucky to live in such a place.
