"On The Cover of the Rolling Stone" !!
« on: 08/18/03, 09:25 AM »

And now, none other than our venerable leader, has attained notoriety by appearing on the now famous "Cover".
http://www.telemarktips.com/index.htm
We're starting to amass a fairly impressive list list of those TAY posters that have, so far, gained such international prominence as to have appeared there.
Lessee, there's, of course, Charles,
Then, Markharf also graced the cover, I believe, back in July,
Ema got her ski partner on there no more than a week or two ago...
Who are some of the others??

Well, I figured that since everyone else has been appearing there, I'd better try too. Plus, as Ema pointed out, at this time of year if you've got a photo of turns you've got a good chance of having your photo used. Pete did a great job of setting up at just the right spot to get both Baker and me (that was not exactly a spontaneous photo).

I missed it, but didn't one of those slush cup photos make it? And didn't JW appear as well in one of Ron's shots?

That's Right!
JW was on "the Cover",
as well as Randy with the great Slush Cup shot...
I can also recall Paul smith making it,
And MadDog too.
Who else are we missing?

Just got reminded last night at the "K2 quiver crawl" that Robie's been on there twice... once with Nitzy on his tandem tele skis and once b-4 that.
There's a lot of famous folks amongst us.

Ironically, I've been on there twice, despite my limited access to volcanoes:
- July 4 2004 pic on Flett Glacier.
- This past June pic on Mt Hood that Jeff took.
(Actually, I now live only a short bike ride from several volcanoes, but unfortunately they have been significantly eroded over time, plus the last glacier to come through here left behind all sorts of junk that filled in the valley plain below.)

That's cool they put up both pics I sent. Good stuff.

Yep, another shot with that [expensive] camera. I've gotten a lot of great stuff with that thing. You learn so much, so fast with digital. The problem is I've got so many photos, I haven't even started to work on them yet.

Wow, TAY is well-represented!  Woohoo!!!
Yes, I think I recognized the hummel tele-god status last season, i even mentioned them in a TR, before I knew who they were.  Of course, i doubt i'm the first to've documented their godliness.

My son, Gabe, is gracing the cover of Teletips again. He enjoys summer and winter skiing with his old man, but has never made an effort to do that 12 months -in-a-row-thing.

I have taken a few shots over the years that have made the cover of telemarktips (see above), but I believe that this is the first time that I have "graced" the front page. The photo was taken by Tom Kress, who has skied with other TAYers.

After an extended period of cover page stagnation (see above), Mitch over at Telemarktips is starting to present new cover photos every couple of days. Today's picture is a shot that I took of NickBC on the last weekend of lift skiing on Whistler Mountain. He is dropping into an area called Doom and Gloom.

I was confused when I first started to post on TAY because I would read stories written by a NickD ,which didn't jive with the NickD that I knew through Telemarktips.com. So to eliminate the confusion, "my" NickD became NickBC. I am not sure what my Telemarktips friend, Scotsman, would do if I could get him into the Turns all year world. Grin

I think because he is tele that he is a dreamer and more poetic while those of us reformed tele got that out of our system at a younger age. Not quite the same as a liberal becoming conservative when one starts paying taxes.  I see myself as a cranky liberal and see skiing in a logical framework. Such as: "where the *&% is the powder and when is it coming?"
I also used to post on TTips but was banned as could not come up with a sufficiently goofy nickname.
 Wink
Yes maybe we need Scotsman's guidance on all this.

Thanks for passing along the pic to TTips Don.  A cover shot and no beef with Mike Scherer; a perfect arrangement.  (Even though neither Mack or I post there.  Maybe Mike Scherer posts there?)
