February 18, 2008, Snoqualmie Pass corn fest!

We found nice corn on SE, S, and SW aspects between 11AM-3PM today from 5200' to 3500' level.  These were smooth slopes between slide paths with big crowns at their tops, some took out fresh timber, likely during last week's warmer weather?   A brisk N to NE breeze was blowing from time to time, hard to explain when and where.   Firm snow on the way up 9-11AM, 1-2" slushy corn on a ~2-3" crust on the way down.  Our telemarker on 195cm Fatboy logo skis (from 15yrs ago, ~60mm waist!) was unfortunately able to slice the crust occasionally.

Hopefully we will get some more of the la Nina winter soon, even though the sun break was pleasant.
