My buddy Aaron and I went up to Stevens pass on wednesday night with high hope for the next day of pow skiing.  We got up to the parking lot just after dark and started to pitch camp.  We got the tent up and were ready to cook up some steaks and chicken on the grill when the plow guy came over and told us it was illegal to camp in a tent overnight.  So we packed up and slept in the car, a VW golf!!!  Not soo much space!
The next morning we woe up to the worst news ever, the mountain was closed with no power because of the 60 mph winds and the mad snow that drifted all over the place!  Then we found out that the pass was closed which didn't help any, so we just went back to sleep.  A few hours later we started digging the car out and then this guy, Joe, came by and pulled us out.  He was cool, he asked if we wanted to hike big chief with him while the pass was closed so we did.  It was epic!!!  The hike was quick, 40 minutes to the top of big chief and then we hit skiers right and went down secret stash! We had to problem picking out sick lines that go right down to that road.  It was really slow at the top but once in the glades we bombed through it!  We had some lunch, a few beers and then did it again!  That night we got a fire going, burning some pallets and drinking a couple beers.  We got to sleep in Joe's camper so we had some more room.  We woke up to our car and camper buried!  We dug the car out and drove out of the pass just in time before the sate closed the pass.  I can't  believe that we just stuck out a storm and slept in a car and ripped in some made pow all in the 2 days we were stuck up in the mountains!  If anybody goes up to Stevens pass this weekend, the back side may not be open due to Avi conditions.
Oh!  One of the groomers told us when the mountain lost power because of an Avalanche, they sent someone out to fix it in a snowcat and then another avalanche buried it!  So use caution when you're out there and rip it up in the fresh Pow Pow!!!
SOunds like a great adventure ;) Way to make the most of it!

If you haven't seen them here is a link to some photos of the Stevens Pass slide. They are at the bottom of the page. Pretty crazy.
