46 INCHES OF NEW SNOW AT REDLODGE
« on: 10/13/08, 10:25 AM »

Click and be jealous.  Red Lodge, Montana received upwords of 42 inches of snow this past weekend.  My grandpa fell down at his house and couldn't find the ground 4 feet beneith him.  For Red Lodge Mountain which likely received well more than 50 inches higher up, this prepresents 1/5 of their annual average snowfall.

12 hour drive.

If anyone goes, I might be interested, one would want to ski a run called "Latigo", it will remain sunlight free and protected this time of year, moderately pitched and safer for avalanche factors.

Don't get too excited:

Quote
We received over 46" of fresh powder over the weekend during this HUGE OCTOBER SNOW STORM!

Our offices will be closed until Tuesday as we are busy moving snow to get to our offices. The storm moved in very quickly on Friday and dropped 46" of snow on Miami Beach. Reports are yet to come in on an amount from the top, but we will keep you in the loop when they do.

We will still be closed for skiing/riding until the day after Thanksgiving, November 28, 2008. This is a very good start for our snowmaking crews to get down a very nice base for opening day!

of course they are not open!  earn your turn man!!! my reccomendation is still latigo because a) i will likely remain ungroomed and b) in the shade.  I've skied storms like this at redlodge up to a month after the snow fell...and it was still very good in the shady areas!!!  all pre-season!

Red Lodge...that place is one of my favs...especially hittin' the Waterhole Saloon in Reed Point.  I might be heading out there later this season...I'll let you know Jayme.
