Monday morning cam shots showed sunshine at Alpental and a cloud bank at West and Central. An ideal day for touring at Kendall. Before touring, I drove to Alpental to checkout the snowpack. The road to Alpental is like driving thru a chasm. The snowpack is huge.
Parking along the middle Pass exit provides easy access. I toured in the Kendall Knob area which had boot deep powder. I followed a track from yesterday up the easterly ridge. It was lonely. ;) There was an inch new when I arrived and another couple inches during my tour. There was no evidence of instability along any of the low angle treed terrain I skied. It was snowing heavily when I left. Tuesday could be good.

I had your same trip thoughts in mind, Zap, but couldn't muster up the strength to go. I think Mondays are going to be good days for solo folks who don't want to break a lot of trail, pretty much anywhere in the Snoq Pass backcountry with all the interest in the area these days. Thanks for posting.
