We picked a good winter to bid farewell to Seattle and spend the season living in Whitefish, MT. Although we're not getting the huge dumps that the Cascades are, northwest Montana is enjoying a very good season so far. Unfortunately with all this snow, getting into the backcountry has been a bit tricky with avi conditions and such. So, with a break in the weather two of us headed into the

We had a great day but unfortunately things warmed up a bit yesterday, releasing what witnesses say was a "very big" slide. http://www.dailyinterlake.com/articles/2008/01/14/news/news01.txt. The slide area is a pretty popular slackcountry spot just off the backside of Big Mountain (I mean Whitefish Mountain Resort.)
