I read Silaswild's trip point, and it inspired this trip report of our uninspiring trip. We had the same experience yesterday up to Kendall Knob. Brad (Moscawulf) and I left the car about 9:30. We followed a skin track set by three women. Thank you Margaret! We met a split boarder named Mike who was studying the snow and avy conditions, so we really enjoyed the trip up. Great exercise, good conversation, and some education.
We dug a couple of quasi pits, about 4 feet deep, on the south side, about 37 degrees, saw the new and recent layers, did a RB test that showed a pretty clean break at the 18" level with a moderate jump. We decided to go on anyway, based on the natural anchors - trees, stumps, etc embedded on the slope.
The snow was deep and heavy, and the top turns were pretty nice, but work. We went down over the west side. As we got lower, the workout increased, for me. I sweated more going down than up. Thanks again, Brad, for waiting for me as I thrashed around. :-[

Uhh, thanks? ;-) Yeah, good exercise and surprisingly nice skiing in the trees, but reminding us of the more normal Cascade snow quality, after a month of unusually light white stuff. Thanks for sharing the conditions you found.
