Drove the 50 miles to get a workout on Ma Nature's outdoor stairmaster instead of driving to the gym. Plodded up 3000' of nice heavy calf deep Cascade concrete, thanks Russ for breaking way more than half! Snow above 4000' was ok, lower had a light crust under 3" of fresh and over a foot of thick stuff. Skiing in the trees seemed safe, tree bomb craters interrupted the perfect smoothness and denser snow at lower elevations called for assertive technique. Snowing on the way up, raining below 3500' on the way down. Character building day.

Yep - our experience in the area was similar. A wardrobe malfunction led us to get an early... and then a late start. Still raining at the 3500-3800' level at ~4:15 pm when we reached our high point. Rained all the way home too.
Character-building indeed for my housemate's first day in the BC - deep goo and tree skiing on unfamiliar fat planks were novel for an east-coast resort skier. Did something right though - he still wants to ski tomorrow (elsewhere).
Any day in the snow is, however, a good one.
