Late start. Not hungover just late.

Drove by burnt out Jack's

Powder up through the trees. From about 2800 or so and up, windpacked powder and breakable crust. Occasional pockets of powder. No RECENT evidence of significant avy.

HOWEVER, there was an avy down on to the road on the way in.

And there was a HUGE avy in the gully immediately to the right of the ridge (Climber's route), the one everyone uses in the winter. The avalanche was so large, it almost fills up the entire gully. So much that I almost got disoriented about which ridge I was on.

Skied down the gully to looker's left of ridge. Breakable crust.

Not great skiing but it was nice to be in the relatively sunny window. Partly cloudy but quite windy. Would have been a good for a summit but not for skiing down.
