Last weekend Tim was the only local in our group, this weekend I was the only non-local. The big rains during the week had squished the snow depth in half, and Gravity had her way with much of it. Cooling weather Thursday firmed up the base and Steve's earlier report had us excited for fine powder on this nice bluebird day. Unfortunately the coverage was pretty thin, and the 9" fresh had shrunk to 4-6" on most aspects.
Views were spectacular, and Herman Saddle offered easy access to north, south, east, and west facing slopes, each of which offered different ski conditions. Our conclusion was that east aspects had the deepest, softest powder -- about 8-10" worth.
