Dec 1 Silver Basin

Joined Tophervw and Jeremy for a trip up to Crystal BC on opening day. Lots of traffic on the drive up. Skinned up under Quicksilver and then we left the main skin track and headed towards Elizabeth Lake. The snow was very light and seemed fairly unstable due to the skin track failing on moderately steep slopes. Did a few laps on lower angle slopes on the east aspect slopes in Silver Basin. There was plenty of untracked powder once you get away from the main skin track up Silver Basin. The sun started to rear it's head while skinning up but rapidly disappeared as soon as we were ready for our first turns. It became progressively worse, with the snow and wind picking up quickly. 

It will be interesting to see if the forecasted rain helps to settle the snowpack or simply destroy it. Not many pics due to a frozen camera.

Overall, a great day with new friends and great powder!
