Crystal Southback 11/29 & 11/30
« on: 11/30/07, 05:46 PM »

The snow has consolidated well and nothing moved on us the last two days.  There were more people up there today and a lot of tracks were put in, but there are still plenty of goods to be had.

Was up in Green Valley taking laps in the bowl and West Face with final run down Iceburg.  All north, west and east slopes were stable.  No sluffing either.  In GV you could kick your board out a bit and give yourself body shots on demand.  From the top it was a no turn zone until you got 50 feet below the ridge line.  Still boney up top.  West Face was money.  Supa deep.  Iceburg, you couldn't go full speed and carve too hard.  Very few people up here today.  Not what I was expecting.  Also very cold.  Couldn't believe the temp gauge reading 12 in the shack, but telemetry just confirmed that.

Patrollers were bombing Powder Bowl.  Ran into retired/semi patrollers Steve Furk and Michelle in the warming shack.  Hmmm...guinnys never tasted so good while we waited for the clouds to break, which they eventually did.

Well heading back up to drink some water at the Elk.
