Leaving Ellensburg at 9, we made the end of the Thorp Creek Rd by 10 in a Subaru Forester, vehicles with lower clearance would've had issues. From there we booted and skied the short route to Thorp Lake and on to the ridge top just NE of the summit. We enjoyed glorious sunshine and views of the crest peaks while the valleys were filled with clouds. Skiing down was suprisingly good with old powder over a firm base. Southern aspects were developing a suncrust. Best was the cautious skiing around and over the fallen trees in the big tree forest between the ridge and the lake.
