Had only a few hours today so spent the afternoon up at Stevens Pass making several yo-yo runs. Steeper terrain (up high around Cowboy) still showing much rock exposure, not skiable quite yet. Clear-cut terrain (ie blue runs) above 4500 were nicely covered, theres tracks, but still finding untracked crystal powder, ~4, which stayed loose and Champagne-like in the cold temps today, mid 20s to low 30s. Didnt have time to drop down into Mill Valley, but Big Chief Mt on the backside looked well covered. Around Tye Mill area, only Skid Row sufficiently covered, lots of rock exposed on other runs (didnt get down into Tye Bowl). Skyline ridge had some v. decent powder left, though getting tracked out (didnt get up to top of 7th). Everywhere seemed to have lots of small drainage creeks running across the slopes, required some jumping to cross over. Nice cat track in place for easy skinning to the top of lifts. So much more peaceful skiing without the crowds, one big storm/dump up there would really make the difference up there! (not really "backcounty" tr, but thought some Steven's goers would be interested).
A couple of those turns on Cowboy Mtn were mine. It was pretty fun snow for how much coverage was there.
