Nov 18, 2007, Chinook Pass

Zach had a late-morning soccer game in Buckley, so we made a short trip to Chinook Pass for an afternoon tour.  Arrived about 1:30 to find 4-5 inches of dry powder.  Not much underneath, but it was workable.  We parked at Little Tipsoo lake, skinned the trail around the back and popped up to the top of the ridge.  Did a couple of runs down into the bowl.  Coverage was adequate and surface conditions were fantastic.  Stability was good, but we didn't ski anything steeper than about 35 degrees.  New snow was well bonded to the various things (snow, brush, rocks) underneath.  Back to the car about 3:30.  2-3 more inches fell while we were there.
