Well,
there were really strong gusting winds with decent precip here in Olympia and I had the day off. What to do? Go skiing. I headed out after calling the MORA hotline, and the recording said the gate was open so off I went.
The gate didn't actually open until 10:25 or so even though eager tourists were lined up with there cars running. I thought that always got the gate open earlier ::).
Skinned out of the lot in the company of a couple of snowshoers and 3 kids carrying snowboards. One had his boots covered with plastic bags. Classic. I climbed up to the base of Pan in relatively nice although wet and stormy conditions.
I was looking up at the top of Pan when suddenly it vanished. I had a weird pain in my hip, and opened my eyes to realize I was on the ground. Bummer. A wind gust had just knocked me clean off my feat.
The visability really deteriorated quickly so I decided that was high enough for today. Skied down in heavy snow, w/o much in the way of visibility, and there are quite a few rocks jus covered with enough new snow to make them dangerous.
Tomorrow has potential to be much better than today.
Sometimes when I have the time I just have to go....
Sorry no pics, I was scared that it would be the end of my camera if I brought it out.

Does this past photo of you at rainy Rainier sum up the experience.
Good job dude, never give up before the parking lot.

Yeah, I was considering going up there too. Then I checked the weather forecast and it called for 50 mph winds at Muir, so I decided not to go, especially after reading a trip report from Sunday. I check the telemetry for Muir on Monday, here it is...
