Inspired by Hefeweizen's report, I decided to check out the Coleman-Deming one week later.  What a difference a week can make!  Slightly cooler temps have turned the nice corn to boilerplate and things never really softened up, nor was there enough fresh to fix the problem (less than 1" lower on the glacier).  The snow situation was improving as we got higher (more fresh, chalkier base), but unfortunately we turned back below Colfax (prolly ~8000'?) due to what I'll charitably refer to as an equipment malfunction.  Just as well, as the  mountain was swallowed in dense cloud as we left our bivy at the Hogsback to head down around 1:30 pm
Thanks for the report.  I heard there was fresh above '7000, but we didn't know how much.  Quite the drive, so maybe we'll change plans for next weekend...
