We got a late start and arrived at the overflow lot at Heather Meadows at about noon.  There were tons of people at the lot (mostly sledders and other sightseers).  The road is plowed for about a half-mile beyond the gate at Heather Meadows but the gate is still locked.  Looks like it's still going to be some time before they have the road open.

We hiked up the western edge of the Mt. Baker ski area and then traversed across the ridge line toward Table Mountain.  The snow was firm and the hike up was relatively painless.  We were lucky that the day was overcast and the on mountain temp was in the 60s which kept things relatively firm and dry throughout the day.  At Table Mountain there was great coverage and the snow was amazingly fast for this time of year.  There was just enough soft corn on the surface to lay down good turns.

All in all it was an easy trip with great snow conditions and it will likely remain good for at least a couple more weeks given the amount of coverage

You'll find tons of pictures at the following two links.

I shot this set (the last couple thumbnails will take you to a movie).
