I didn't think I was gonna kick down another rpt., but the main chute on Lassen is still great. The surface didn't change much since the past wk. I topped out on the peak at 8:30. Still lucked out with some SW winds, around 15. The trail goes up the SE ridge which gets the prevailing wind. This makes it nice as it is not dead calm. Then you can give'r your all on the snow-climbing.
Snow this wk. was quite amazing. My first run involved "mush-sluff",as the general angle is the "magic #" - of you know, 38 degrees. The sluff turns basically stayed with each turn. Upon stopping, it did continue by me, making its classic hissing -- sound of a snake; sno-motion!
My other 2 descents involved snow that was perfectly consolidated of 4-6" of "summer mush" . I will be returning next wk. for wk. 4.

my 7,7,7 was full of luck & good fortune - hope yours was as well !
