June 30, Mt Hood, Palmer Snowfield

I made a quick dash up to Mt Hood today for a late afternoon ski. Started out of the Timberline parking lot at 3:30 after the racer kids were off the mountain and made my way through the massive terrain park. The snow was still pretty mushy but began to firm up as I got to the top of the Palmer an hour later. The skiing on the upper Palmer was very nice but lower down it had already firmed up and was pretty ruff skiing through the tracks from earlier in the day. You can still ski on continuous snow from the parking lot. I suspect one should be able to ski all the way to the parking lot as long as T-line continues to push snow down the mt.
