Mountaineers party on the Inspiration Glacier. "Inspirado Peak" in the background.

Lots of people up there today. But only two skiers. Actually one skier (me) and another fellow with a split-board.

I found myself unexpectedly free today so I headed for Eldorado Peak. The snowpack extended lower than I expected--well below the scrubby tree line, about half-way down the boulders. Melting fast, I think.

I ran into a group of twelve charming lady Mountaineers on the Inpiration Glacier. Actually ten charming ladies and two guys who somehow signed up for their outing. But everyone was nice.

Very warm, little wind on the summit. I skied down from the summit and nipped up "Inspirado Peak" for a short run on my way from the Inspiration Glacier to the Eldorado Glacier. Rather slow skiing on the Eldorado Glacier. Lots of pollen by the time I reached snowline.

The Mountaineers were out for a day trip, but about 25 other folks were heading in for an overnight as I skied down. Busy weekend!
Lowell: that's a very nice photograph -- well composed :)

Here's a trip report from the leader of the Mountaineers party:
