Skied up to Camp Muir on Monday. My plan to escape the cloudiness by getting above it worked out perfectly, as I broke out of the clouds after skinning just a couple hundred vertical feet above the very full Paradise parking lot. Recognized a couple people on the trip up, and raced a friend up to the top of Pan Point (he beat me - boots beat skins on this day). The weather was beautiful with a sea of clouds hanging around below around 5700' or so. Weather at Camp Muir was pleasant - no breeze and warm with all the reflected sunlight. I think I saw more people without sunglasses today than I ever have before. Chatted with a few people, including a t-a-y'er - trumpetsailor. The snow from 10,000' down to around 8500-8000' was perfect, then it got slow all of a sudden, just like the slowness mentioned in other recent trip reports. It stayed slow, to varying degrees, all the way to the car. I did not find any build-up on my bases, though. Encountered fog from the base of Pan Point down to 5800' or so, then clouds to the parking lot. The parking lot broke out of the clouds at around 5pm, just as I was driving away.
