Thanks to all the contributors this week who detailed the snow conditions they have found all over the Cascades. It is a huge help in deciding what destination to pursue, just why Charles designed the site.
Today we had three options in mind, Washington Pass seemed unnecessarily far away. Silver Peak looked like it would be grim for a while when we passed it buried in cloud and a 3000' freezing level. Choice number three, Earl Peak, provided excellent corn for 1500' and then good skiing on stickier snow for the next 1000'. Rocks are poking out more and more, lots of sticks, branches and logs remain from avalanches, the season for Earl is nearly over, but today was great after a breezy start that had us concerned.
Randy's description of the route in was perfect, thanks. No need for garbage bag overboots. Good weather and good snow for Vera's annual ski tour made a pleasant Mother's Day.
