Scotsman said, "Reagan did it my way!" ;)
Friday eve on North Cascades Highway.
At Blue Lake trail we greeted the morn,
Started with 'spro then skinned for corn.
BD tele crampons barely worked;
My purchase made me feel like a jerk. >:(
I booted first to Blue Lake Col,
Sydnie cruised without a fall.
The views on top made us three proud---
From Early Winters our echoes rang loud.
Then 'twas time for turns we'd earned:
Down Madison Ave 'til our thighs burned.
We re-skinned in that glorious basin,
With perfect snow we didn't hasten.
For the Birthday Tour Chris was a fine guide,
His track from last week made me glad inside.
From the notch I didn't want to downclimb much
So I jumped the lip and sank in slush! 8)
Copper Creek's snow was firm and corn;
Many many tracks were torn.
Past larch and debris we cruised on down,
Out at the hairpin and back to town.
Our ski-pal soon will post some pix,
And you'll all laugh at my fashion tricks. ::)
Sidnie was the Birthday girl,
And Chris's beta rocked our world.
Of fine snow and temps there was no lack---

Sounds like you had fun. I hear mixed feedback on BD crampons. I think G3 Ascent has the best crampon system. Great for ascent, non-remarkable for descent.

Great trip and a lot of fun with you and Sidnie and there is nothing better than celebrating someone's birthday than on the birthday tour in such good weather.
Excellent effort on the last skin without ski crampons, I certainly was glad I had mine.
