The Wyeast face is one of the best descents on Mt Hood. Until this weekend we really haven't had adequate weekend weather this spring to do it. This weekend we did. We started from the main MHM lodge. Getting to the base of the face there is a bit of hiking along the moraine (which will increase with time). The snow was a bit soft at the top of the face, but it wasn€™t too problematic. We skied all the way to the base of Heather canyon for a 5400vft descent. I wish I was doing it again today.

What happens if you summit via Timberline, then ski down Wy'East?  Long traverse required?  Does approaching from Mt Hood Meadows save time and trouble?

Getting from the summit to the top of the Wyeast face is pretty spicey from what I understand. You could ski the NC headwall though.

Nice trip Jeff.  It's been a few years since I've skied the Face.  It is a wonderful line with spring corn.
