After reading RossMac's positive review on Valkyr Lodge (March 2006) and looking at his pictures we decided to try it out. Had a great week. Valkyr is a new lodge (opened 2005) with fun backcountry terrain, beautiful scenery, hot shower, super-hot sauna, flush toilets, private rooms, good food and friendly owners/managers (Shelly & Martin). They offer the choice of catering and/or guiding. We selected self-guided and catered and were very happy with our choice. The food is very good home-style cooking and they even have beer on tap and will stock your favorite beer upon request. The terrain offers plenty of variety but is not intimidating. Chris, Nice photos. We spent a week there back in 2005 and had a great time. We did a self guided and self catered trip. Their son was the caretaker during our week and he had a kite and was teaching himself to fly/tumble :) There was a dry spell before and during part of our trip, yet there are so many stashes near the hut that we were skiing powder on north slopes most of the week. We're waiting for them to build the second hut for a return trip. Zap
