Fundraiser for injured skier Steve Greenlaw was created by Aaron_Riggs
YOU ARE INVITED! Fundraiser, Party, Celebration for an injured friend
Our friend Steve Greenlaw from North Bend, WA crashed into rocks skiing at the Mission Ridge ski area in February. He fractured his pelvis so bad it detached from his hip and caused internal hemorrhaging.
After 3 ambulance transfers and a plane ride to Harborview--Steve received 5 rods and 1 plate in his pelvis. A big thank you goes out to the surgeons who prevented paralysis and preserved the delicate sacral nerve in Steve's body.
Also a big thumbs up to Dave Perkins who was skiing with Steve. Dave kept his cool, administered first aid, got help fast, and assisted in getting Steve safely off the hill.
Steve has insurance but his bills from this injury are horrendous. He'll be unable to work for as long as a year. Steve is an iron worker, not a desk-jockey like many of us, so his physical fitness is crucial for him to earn a living, pay his mortgage, bills, etc...
Guys & Gals, Steve is like you--he's a climber, skier, cyclist and dreamer of adventures. He has the strength of many, but now he needs a little help from his friends and community. Our goal is to raise $30,000 to help offset Steve's bills.
Please come enjoy this party/event/fundraiser for a GREAT cause. See old friends and make new ones. Come one-come all!

This is the first I have heard of this sad news, certainly sorry to hear this news about Stevie.
I can say with no hesitation that Steve is a great guy. He has donated his free time to help on many projects at our house without reserve. And he possesses a very positive upbeat influence on life which IMHO deserves better karma than what has befallen him.
I've had the sick pleasure of witnessing a couple of Steve's pretty spectacular mountain bike crashes, but those only amounted to scrapes and bruises. Steve was a snowboarder that saw the benefits of skis and poles and made the switch. Having not skied with Stevie since he first jumped ship, but he must have progressed pretty rapidly since he is doing the Slot Couloir.
May your Benefit be a fun and profitable-Hope that many others find it in their hearts to donate to your cause.
As a suggestion-Maybe set up a PayPal account to make it easier to donate/transfer funds.
Donors can sell some old gear at your parties auction, Ebay or TAY's Yardsell and donate the funds.
All the best to Steve, Hope you get better soon!

Great idea, Joe. Steve's Mom is going to set up a PayPal account.
And I have seen some of those mountain bike crashes too!

Thanks to everyone who came!
I talked to Steve's parents and they've raised approximately $9,000 so far! ;D
People are still donating items for an ongoing ebay auction (thanks to TAY members who have contacted me about donations)
Thank you "you know who" for the 2 sets of skis!!!

hello to all readers!
we want to update you on Seve's progress... the auction/party on may 5th was everything we hoped it would be and anyone who could not attend , missed a fun party! we want to thank all those who supported Steve during this difficult time. we were able to meet about one third of our goal and will be able to pay about 4 months of his bills and some of his medical bills as well.we could not have done it without you!!
As Steve goes forward,he has high hopes for a full recovery but faces many months of hard work
getting there befor returning to work and we thank you for your prayers and encouragement.
We have set up a paypal for online donations and thank you in advance for any support you could give!
Steve might be allowed to try and take a few steps without crutches this week if the ex-rays show impovement... we will keep our fingers crossed!!!
thanks again!!
Jana Cross
