April 6th: Alpental

Great spring skiing today. Arrived later to hit it right, and we did. Lots of fun stuff. Skied one out of Edelweis bowl, then headed out to stokes, the top of which was great spring fun in the sun. Out the gate again to sharon bowl, and knoll 3, then knoll 4, then a last ditch effort breaking trail up to 261. The top of the ridge doesnt look as appetizing for traversing, mostly rock now. Decided to drop 261 on the north side above the cliffs, that was really nice! Almost got taken out by a huge 3 foot in diameter snowball, yikes! It was kind of funnny too after a few brews. Fun in the sun all day and great skiing, glad i bought the spring pass!

Old Man winter was amongst the alpy faithful today bidding farewell to his handywork.

Very cool! I was there on Fri morning & stopped in to the shack to finally get my bc pass. I was wondering who that fellow was.
I stopped around noon. All three BC runs I took were pretty good. No one had put in the 261 boot, but I'm not sure I woulda done it even so (had heavy downhill gear, no AT). No Fog was particularly nice and surprisingly low in debris. Had I posted a timely report I would have noted how debris free Phantom and Red appeared from a distance (Red, since then, appears to have undergone quite the assault, even without anyone pimping the conditions on TAY, and it would hardly surprise me if Phantom was unmasked as well).
