enjoyed a rare weekday off by soaking in the sun down in bullion basin today...left the crystal parking lot just past 9 am and headed up along the rock hard road and cat track...seemed that we were a day late to enjoy the soft new snow from earlier in the week  as the sun/high freezing levels of thursday turned it to a breakable crust...good thing the sun was out to soften things up...about 2.5 hours to the top of Point 6,479... from here we did two runs on the north facing slope...snow was soft but more wind-blown on this face, so the hard crust layer underneath was sometimes hard to handle...skied down to the 5,700' base and headed to the hiker's right for the more north/northwest face....here more snow had collected more and made for two slightly shorter, but very enjoyable and smooth runs...drooped into the narrow gully and then back down near the drainage, through some thick trees and then back onto the now softened road for some nice turns down to the lot....back to car around 3:15 pm...a great day of spring-like conditions
