March 18, 2007, Source Lake/ Chair Pk.

Decided to head up to Alpy for a short tour after a rough day of libations Sat. Arrived after noon, skinned up to the lake and headed up the apron to the saddle, ripped skins and went down for a sample. Kind of mixed bag, corny in spots and just plain thick stciky mank in others. Snowpack has taken a serious beating, makes me a little sad. Skinned back up the apron to the Chair bowl with hopes of climbing the ridge and skiing to Snow Lake, but tons of avy debris and audio eveidnece of slides forced a turn around decision. Nice corn back to the saddle, quicly turning to mashed mank. No rain...overall a good day. We either need some new snow, or a corn creation stat. No other skiers up there, ran into a couple coming back from the circumnav. in the lot. Didn;t share too much except telling me it was slushy....it's spring, my most painful season.
