Jim C. thought there might be a window of opportunity early this morning.  A quick check of the telemetry verified no rain at the pass, so Silas W. and I met up for a trip to the Pass.  Shortly after 8 we were on the hunt, taking a direct route up from the PCT parking lot.  An hour later we were up and traversing the ridge, eventually traversing along under the 1st point on the west under fairly clear skies and light winds.  We climbed up to the 1st col, stripped skins and started taking some turns on good corn.  I was amazed at how good the conditions were and how mild the weather.  We dropped about 1400' and decided the weather, while starting to move in, was unlikely to prevent us from making another run.  While skinning up the 2nd time, we actually were seeking out shade so we wouldn't overheat on the way up.  We went for the 2nd col this time, and had an even better run down from there.  Amazingly the weather still hadn't moved in, but we were through pushing our luck, so we traversed up and south to the top of the ridge overlooking the Pass.  It was a little bumpy in spots heading down under the trees, but not a bad run nonetheless, bringing us down to the PCT parking lot just as the 1st few drops began to fall, right around 1:30.  Looks like hero corn out there.

[Edited title - Charles]
Specifics of the snow:  west facing slopes 5700'-4500' had half an inch of corn on a firm base, east facing had a couple inches of powder under the corn and light crust, but a firm base too.  Below 3500' on lower angle slopes the corn was deeper and softer.  The rain should make the next sunny period even better spring skiing!
